KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2, (KUNA): The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) said Tuesday it would, as of April 1st, increase fees for a new Civil ID to five Kuwaiti Dinars, from the current KD two, while doubling the fee to KD 20 for a replacement ID. PACI Director General Musaad Al- Asousi, in a statement, attributed increase to a recommendation by State Audit Bureau (SAB) which noted that cost of issuing a new Civil ID exceeded KD 4.5 vis-a-vis the KD two issuing fee.

He said PACI has finalized necessary changes to its computers and financial systems. The new fees will take effect as of April 1, explained Al-Asousi. He said PACI has around 136,000 IDs ready for delivery, urging people to collect their IDs before April 1st of they would pay the new fees. Al-Asousi said PACI would soon receive a new printer to honor the growing demands. He said PACI was issuing around 9,000 IDs everyday, while delivering 8, 000-10,000 IDs per day.
