Civil Aviation on alert as Kuwait braces for foggy conditions
Kuwait’s Civil Aviation closely monitors the weather as a fog forecast looms.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12:  Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced Tuesday that it is closely monitoring the weather situation in the country in direct and continuous coordination with the Meteorological Department, amid forecasts of fog formation in several areas, particularly coastal regions and islands.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the DGCA said that officials in charge of weather monitoring and the emergency response team are performing their duties diligently, taking all necessary precautionary measures and following weather developments closely.

The authority confirmed that coordination is ongoing with all airlines operating at Kuwait International Airport to ensure the safety of passengers and staff, stressing that “additional measures will be taken if required to guarantee everyone’s safety.”

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department had forecast fog formation on Tuesday evening over parts of the country, especially along coastal areas and islands.

Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, told KUNA earlier that weather maps and numerical models indicate the country will be affected by an extension of a high-pressure system from the northwest, accompanied by a moderately warm and humid air mass with light to variable northwesterly winds shifting to southeasterly on Friday.

Al-Ali explained that, due to increased humidity, the likelihood of dense fog will rise, reducing horizontal visibility to below 1,000 meters in some areas.
