Communications Authority Unveils ‘Aman’ service for electronic fraud surveillance on ‘Sahel’ platform.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8: The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) is set to launch a new service called “Aman” aimed at combating electronic fraud and phishing attempts, announced Youssef Kazim, the official spokesperson for the unified government application for electronic services, known as “Sahel”.

Under the directives of the Council of Ministers, along with the Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and the Minister of State for Communications Affairs, Daoud Suleiman Marafi, CITRA is gearing up to roll out the “Aman” service. This initiative is designed to monitor instances of fraud and electronic phishing faced by individuals, including citizens and residents, who can report such incidents directly through the “Sahel” application.

Kazim elaborated that the “Aman” service will be accessible to users through the “Services” section of the CITRA within the “Sahel” application. Its primary objective is to empower users to report any electronic phishing attempts they encounter, whether in the form of fraudulent messages, fake calls, or deceptive images. The service will also monitor various types of electronic fraud encountered by users through text messages, voice calls, websites, electronic platforms, or any other suspicious means.

To utilize the “Aman” service, users of the “Sahel” application will be required to register pertinent data and upload relevant attachments or information corroborating instances of fraud or electronic phishing. This data will enable CITRA to take necessary actions in collaboration with relevant authorities to address such fraudulent activities effectively.
