KUWAIT CITY, March 9: The mosques sector of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs issued a circular to announce the replacement of official holiday allowance for religious office holders, including imams and muezzins, during the year, reports Al-Rai daily. The circular highlighted the decision of the Mosque Sector Council, whereby a proposal was approved to grant exit to occupants of religious positions twice a year, at a rate of four days each time.

A period of five days will be granted in the form of exemption from absences during the year, so that the total is 13 days, instead of official holidays during the year. The circular stressed that, “Imams and muezzins should not be absent during the official holidays of the state especially on religious and national occasions. These days will be considered as official working days.”
