KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11: What began as a routine vehicle inspection at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing turned into a high-stakes bust when customs officers uncovered a cunning smuggling attempt. At first glance, the vehicle appeared clean — only 20 cigarette packs were visible. But a sharp-eyed inspector noticed something wasn’t right. X-ray scans revealed unusual densities inside all four tires. The discovery was as brazen as it was meticulous: 620 cigarette packs expertly hidden within the tires, ready to be smuggled out of the country. The haul was seized, the suspects detained, and the case referred to the authorities for legal action — a reminder that at Kuwait’s borders, even the most ingenious concealment can’t outrun the law.
