KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: The Coptic Archbishop of Jerusalem and the Near East, Bishop Antonius said the Church is praying for the State of Kuwait and for the safety of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad and his safe return to his homeland and the people to lead the country towards further progress, prosperity, peace and stability, reports Al-Jarida daily.

In an interview with Al-Jarida on the occasion of his current visit to Kuwait, he said that His Highness’s wisdom in managing the country and his wise policy are reflected in Kuwait’s policy that does not differentiate between sects and races, stressing that religious freedoms in Kuwait are guaranteed by the evidence of the presence of St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Hawally.

It is one of the most beautiful cathedrals ever built. It is also evidence of the respect Kuwait has for religious tolerance and human rights.

He pointed out that the Coptic Church in Kuwait shares Kuwaiti society’s various occasions, noting that the Kuwaiti people are hospitable and friendly. He stated that the Church is seeking peace, and constantly praying for its establishment in the whole world, pointing out that wars, conflicts and unrest deprive people of work, creativity, innovation and achievement.
