NEW YORK, Jan 27: Spring & Mulberry has expanded its nationwide chocolate recall to include additional flavors after routine testing detected a potential risk of Salmonella contamination that could cause “serious and sometimes fatal infections,” the company and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials said Monday.
The recall, first announced on Jan. 14 for the Mint Leaf flavor, now covers eight more varieties sold online and through select retailers nationwide since Sept. 15, 2025. Consumers can identify affected products by brand name, flavor, lot code, and box color. Lot codes are printed on the back of the packaging and the inner flow wrap.
The recalled flavors and lot codes include:
- Earl Grey (#025258)
- Lavender Rose (#025259, #025260)
- Mango Chili (#025283)
- Mint Leaf (#025255)
- Mixed Berry (#025275, #025281, #025337)
- Mulberry Fennel (#025345)
- Pecan Date (#025261, #025265, #025267, #025268, #025339, #025343)
- Pure Dark Minis (#025273)
Salmonella infections can cause watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite, with symptoms appearing six hours to six days after exposure and lasting four to seven days. In severe cases, the infection can spread to the blood, bones, joints, or other organs, posing heightened risks for young children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Spring & Mulberry said no illnesses or adverse health effects have been confirmed. The potential contamination was discovered after routine third-party testing by a contract manufacturer indicated the presence of Salmonella in finished products.
Consumers who purchased affected chocolates are advised to immediately dispose of them and not consume the products. Refunds or replacements are available by emailing a photo of the lot code to [email protected].
