KUWAIT CITY, March 14: Chocolate consumption in Kuwait decreased by 41% in 2021 after being at the forefront of consumption of this commodity region which was 3 kilograms on average per person annually, reports Al-Qabas daily. This was due to the precautionary measures imposed by the health authorities during 2021 following the closure of many activities and events such as weddings, receptions and various others that were a big outlet for chocolate consumption.

Official figures showed Kuwait’s total imports of chocolate during the last nine months of 2021 was 23.5 million dinars, compared to imports worth 40 million dinars in the corresponding period of 2020. It is expected that the consumption rate will return to normal during the coming period, especially with the return of normal life again and the lifting of restrictions which were imposed for months on many social activities to contain the spread of the pandemic.
