BEIJING, Apr 14: Chinese President Xi Jinping has put forward a four-point proposal aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Middle East during talks with a senior United Arab Emirates royal official.
According to China’s state news agency Xinhua News Agency, Xi presented the plan during a meeting with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
The proposal emphasizes regional peaceful coexistence, respect for national sovereignty, and stronger coordination between development and security policies across the region.
Xi also called for upholding international law, warning against the selective application of global rules.
“Safeguard the authority of the international rule of law. It can’t be ‘use it when it suits us, discard it when it doesn’t,’ and we cannot allow the world to revert to the law of the jungle,” Xi said, according to Xinhua.
The initiative comes amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with major powers increasingly engaging in diplomatic efforts to stabilize the region.
