KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8, (KUNA): A Chinese official on Sunday heaped praise on Kuwait for the tremendous development the Gulf state has made across numerous sectors, garnering admiration from the international community.

The mayor of the Chinese city of Tai’an Zhang Tao was just as impressed by Kuwait’s profound penchant for humanitarian endeavors, which earned His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the UN-bestowed moniker of “Humanitarian Leader.” Amid an encounter with the Gulf state’s ambassador to Beijing Samih Hayat, the Chinese official said the world’s most populous nation’s ties with Kuwait have made tangible progress over the years.

On the sidelines of an international investment forum taking place in this prefectural-level city, Tao said there remains potential for more bilateral cooperation, which can only bode well for both countries. The Kuwaiti diplomat said his country shares an equal desire to improve relations with China, citing “concrete measures” Kuwait has taken to bring that goal to fruition. As a step towards achieving the aforementioned goal, he revealed that a sister city deal between the Chinese province of Shandong and Kuwait is pending confirmation.
