Chinese embassy: Worker killed in Iranian attack on company building in Kuwait was Nepalese

KUWAIT CITY, Jul 30: The Chinese Embassy in Kuwait has clarified that the worker who was killed after an Iranian attack targeted a Chinese company’s building in northern Kuwait was a Nepalese driver employed by a subcontractor, and not a Chinese national.

In a statement, the Chinese embassy said the incident did not result in any deaths or injuries among Chinese citizens in Kuwait. However, the attack caused significant material damage to the company’s property.

The clarification came after the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced earlier that an Iranian attack had targeted a building belonging to a Chinese company in the north of the country.

Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Saud Al-Atwan said the attack resulted in the death of one worker and caused serious material damage to the building.

The Chinese embassy said it was closely following the developments and confirmed that there were no casualties among Chinese nationals in Kuwait as a result of the incident.

The incident highlights the impact of the ongoing regional escalation on civilian and commercial facilities in Kuwait, with authorities continuing to assess the damage caused by the Iranian attack.
