BEIJING, Apr 14: Chinese President Xi Jinping has warned against what he described as a return to the “law of the jungle” in global affairs, urging countries to strengthen cooperation and uphold multilateralism amid rising geopolitical tensions.

Speaking during a meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Xi reiterated that nations should “oppose the world’s retrogression to the law of the jungle” and work together to safeguard “genuine multilateralism.”

He called for closer communication and coordination between countries to address global conflicts and challenges, including ongoing wars and economic uncertainty.

Sánchez echoed the sentiment, saying that China and Spain can play a constructive role in easing trade tensions and contributing to solutions for geopolitical crises, environmental issues, and broader global challenges affecting the international community.
