SHANGHAI, May 11: The Ministry of Public Security of China said on Monday that Chinese and US authorities had jointly dismantled a cross-border drug trafficking network in a coordinated anti-narcotics operation that resulted in the arrest of five suspects.
According to the ministry, the suspects included two Chinese nationals and three American nationals. The operation was jointly led by the ministry’s Narcotics Control Bureau and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Authorities said the raids were carried out simultaneously in Liaoning and Guangdong provinces in China, as well as in the US states of Florida and Nevada in early April.
Officials said law enforcement teams seized quantities of drugs, including protonitazene and bromazolam, during the operation.
The ministry said the coordinated crackdown dismantled a transnational drug trafficking channel linking China and the United States, describing the operation as a significant example of ongoing anti-drug cooperation between the two countries.
Chinese authorities said the joint effort reflected the determination of both sides to combat serious drug-related crimes through practical law enforcement collaboration.
