China Urges Peace Talks to End Iran Conflict in Calls with EU, Germany, and Saudi Arabia
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

BEIJING, Apr 2: Beijing has expressed readiness to work with the European Union to bring an end to the war in Iran as soon as possible, according to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

In separate phone calls on Thursday with Kaja Kallas and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Wang stressed that halting the fighting remains the most urgent priority. He also conveyed a similar message during discussions with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, calling for immediate de-escalation.

According to China’s Foreign Ministry, Kallas said on social media that the European Union supports diplomatic efforts aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and urged restraint from all parties involved.

The ministry also said Kallas welcomed a five-point proposal jointly put forward by China and Pakistan, which calls for an end to hostilities, the start of peace talks, and the safeguarding of key maritime routes.
