Promotional Film Premiere: A Look Back at the Center’s Development
A specially produced video retraced the Center’s journey — from the signing of the Agreement between the Governments of China and Kuwait on the establishment of China Cultural Center in Kuwait in 2017, through its trial operations in 2023, to today’s official unveiling. The film showcased how China Cultural Center in Kuwait has gradually become an important platform for the local public to learn about China and experience Chinese culture, reflecting its vision of serving as a cultural bridge between the two countries.
Artistic Performances Highlight Dialogue of Civilizations
The event featured a captivating lineup of cultural performances. A Kuwaiti band presented both the local favorite “Hona Hona” and the Chinese classic “Jasmine Flower”, highlighting the fusion and mutual appreciation of the two cultures. Wang Fei, inheritor of Qingcheng Martial Arts - an intangible cultural heritage item from Chengdu in southwest China - delivered a powerful Tai Chi performance that vividly embodied the balance of strength and grace central to traditional Chinese martial arts philosophy.
Symbolic Gifts and Hands-on Cultural Experiences
In a gesture of friendship, intangible cultural heritage (ICH) inheritors from Chengdu presented their artworks to the Center. Director Liu Jinhong accepted the gifts on behalf of the Center. The paper-cutting artwork symbolizes good fortune and a bright future, while the knotting piece represents the vibrant growth of China–Kuwait cultural exchange.
Visitors are also invited to explore interactive cultural experience, including Chinese ICH workshops, tea art demonstrations, a panda-themed exhibition, and a Photo Exhibition showcasing the Center’s Milestones. Guests try paper-cutting, knotting, and Tai Chi, while enjoying authentic Chinese tea. The photo exhibition captures key moments from the Center’s establishment, reflecting the fruitful achievements of China–Kuwait cultural cooperation.
A New Starting Point for Deeper Cultural Ties
The official inauguration of China Cultural Center in Kuwait marks the beginning of a new journey. Moving forward, the Center will remain committed to building a high-quality platform for cultural exchange, sharing China’s stories well. Together with the people of Kuwait, it will continue to enrich the narrative of China–Kuwait cultural cooperation and foster deeper mutual understanding between the two nations.
