KUWAIT CITY, Aug 31: On August 28, the China Cultural Center in Kuwait hosted “Qixi Feast: Taste the Romance of China,” the second event in its ongoing series titled “Chinese Culinary Culture Month.” Coinciding with China’s traditional Qixi Festival, the event spotlights the artistry of Cantonese dim sum, offering Kuwait guests an immersive journey into Chinese culinary culture. Cantonese dim sum is more than food — it embodies Lingnan culture and stands as one of the iconic symbols of Chinese cuisine worldwide.

Today, expressions such as “dim sum” and “yum cha” are widely used in English, reflecting the global reach of this culinary tradition. The event introduces participants to the diversity and cultural symbolism of dim sum and features interactive activities. Under the guidance of professional instructors, guests will make their own mochi, discovering the delicacy and enjoyment behind dim sum craftsmanship. Classic dishes such as har gow, siu mai, BBQ buns, and swan-shaped pastry, along with traditional Chinese tea, are also served, allowing attendees to savor the philosophy of Cantonese dining. Beyond flavors, the experience fosters connection and cultural exchange.
During the sharing session, several participants will recount personal stories and impressions of Chinese cuisine, underscoring how food is not only a sensory delight but also a bridge that transcends geography and language. As the second installment of the series of event themed “Chinese Culinary Culture Month”, the event combines cultural sharing, hands-on workshops, and interactive exchange. It vividly showcases Chinese gastronomy and traditional festivals, enhancing the Kuwait public’s appreciation of Chinese culture while deepening bonds of friendship and understanding.
