KUWAIT CITY, Nov 1: Kuwait Customs officials have foiled an attempt to smuggle approximately 323 grams of synthetic narcotics into the country after discovering 50 sheets of drug-infused paper concealed inside a child's chair in a postal parcel arriving from Canada.
The General Administration of Customs said the seizure was made by the Air Cargo Customs Department in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior's General Department for Drug Control, under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah.
Customs inspectors became suspicious of the incoming shipment during routine checks and subjected it to a thorough inspection.
Inside a drawer of the child's chair, inspectors discovered a bag containing 50 A4-sized sheets of paper soaked in the narcotic substance known locally as "chemical," with a combined weight of approximately 323 grams.
The sheets had been professionally concealed inside the chair in an apparent attempt to evade customs inspection.
Following the discovery, the Customs Investigation and Research Office coordinated with the General Department for Drug Control, resulting in the arrest of the suspect allegedly involved in the smuggling attempt.
A report was prepared and the necessary legal procedures were initiated.
The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug smuggling through all ports of entry, stressing continued coordination with the Ministry of Interior and other relevant authorities to safeguard national security and protect society.
