Chaos and confusion on Kuwait airport after implementation of ban on 7 countries

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 08: After the meeting of cabinet ministers decision to ban 7 countries expats namely Bangladesh, Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt for a period of one week to enter in Kuwait. Kuwait International Airport took immediate steps where the rule was enforced after midnight on 7th March.

After the arrival of 130 passengers from Luxor, Egypt. Medical examinations were conducted and 90 passengers passports were stamped and remaining 40 passengers were prevented from entering into Kuwait. They were told to take the next flight and go back to their destination from where they came from.

Sources who work in security department on airport said that number of flights came from these banned 7 countries with different nationalities and after the confusion and chaos which created crowding on airport only 500 passengers were allowed to enter after stamping the passport.

Sources pointed that there were 2 flights that left to India (Mumbai and Hyderabad) were informed by control tower to return and disembark all the passengers on board, while an Egyptian plane coming from Cairo was prevented by informing the captain to change its route, which in turn had to change its destination and it landed at Dammam airport in Saudi Arabia.

Similarly at departures since incoming flights from these 7 banned countries were told to return hundreds of passengers were unable to complete departure procedures which forced them to cancel their travel plans. (Al Rai)
