KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: British rider Nick Channing delivered a commanding performance to close out the second round of the local equestrian league, clinching first place in the Grand Prix (140 cm) with a flawless jump-off round of 40.24 seconds. He was followed by riders Hussein Al-Kharafi, Yara Al-Henedy, Steven Daniels, Anaz Al-Anaz, Fawaz Al-Subaie, and Khaled Al-Khubaizi. The winners were honored by Sheikh Sabah Ali Al-Sabah, Director of Sahara Equestrian Resort.
In the Medium Tour (130 cm), Latifa Al-Hajri claimed top spot, while Dalal Safar secured victory in another 130 cm class. Mohammed Al-Otaibi continued his strong form by winning the 120 cm event.
The championship's opening day also featured standout performances. Anaz Al-Anaz took the 135 cm Grand Prix title, Mohammed Al-Melifi topped the 125 cm class, and Sojo Babi won the 115 cm event. Mohammed Al-Otaibi added another success by finishing first in the 105 cm class.
Sufian Ahmad Buqmaz, Administrative Director of the Kuwait Equestrian Federation, said:
“It’s a promising start to the 2025–2026 season, which is expected to be exceptional in every aspect thanks to the support of the Public Authority for Sports and private-sector partners. We’ve already seen significant improvement in both rider and horse performance, and the many international tournaments scheduled this season will play a key role in raising the overall competitive level.”
