TAMPA, Jun 28: The U.S. Navy and Air Force carried out strikes on 10 Iranian military targets at multiple locations in and around the Strait of Hormuz in response to Iran’s reported drone attack on the commercial tanker M/T Kiku, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
CENTCOM released video footage showing the strikes, which it said targeted Iranian military sites linked to the attack. The operation involved U.S. fighter jets from both naval and air force units.
The U.S. military said the strikes were conducted in response to what it described as an Iranian attack on maritime traffic and a threat to freedom of navigation in the strategically important waterway.
The Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route, has remained a flashpoint amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.
