KUWAIT CITY, July 20: The US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched a new wave of military strikes against Iran early Monday, marking the ninth consecutive night of operations targeting Iranian military capabilities.
The strikes began at 2:00 a.m. Kuwait time (7:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday) and are aimed at degrading Iranian military assets used to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM said the operations are focused on reducing Iran's ability to threaten international shipping and maintaining the security of one of the world's most strategically important maritime routes.
The latest strikes form part of an ongoing US military campaign against Iranian targets as regional tensions continue to escalate.
