TAMPA, Fla. Jun 3: U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said American and allied air defense forces successfully intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones launched across the Gulf region on June 3, preventing any casualties or damage to U.S. personnel and assets.
According to CENTCOM, a wave of Iranian drones targeting U.S. forces in Kuwait failed to reach their intended targets after being shot down by air defense systems. The command also said two Iranian ballistic missiles fired toward Kuwait either fell short or broke apart before impact, while three missiles launched at Bahrain were intercepted by U.S. and Bahraini forces.
Earlier, CENTCOM reported destroying three one-way attack drones launched by Iran toward civilian vessels transiting regional waters. In response to the attempted attacks, U.S. forces carried out what they described as self-defense strikes against an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island.
The command stressed that no American personnel were harmed and that forces remain on high alert during the ongoing ceasefire period.
CENTCOM also rejected claims by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that it had successfully struck the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and a U.S. air base in the region, calling the assertions false and maintaining that all Iranian attacks against American forces failed.
