CENTCOM Debunks Iranian Regime “Lies” Over Alleged Attack on U.S. Warship in Gulf of Oman

TAMPA, Jun 5: The United States Central Command (United States Central Command) has strongly denied claims circulating from Iranian sources alleging that Iranian forces fired warning shots at U.S. Navy warships in the Gulf of Oman, forcing them to withdraw toward the Indian Ocean. According to CENTCOM, no such incident occurred involving U.S. naval vessels, and the claims are “false and not based on any operational reality.”

CENTCOM officials emphasized that U.S. Navy ships continue to operate routinely in international waters in accordance with international law and established maritime security missions. The command stressed that there has been no engagement, warning shots, or hostile exchange involving Iranian forces and U.S. warships, directly rejecting suggestions of any confrontation or retreat.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and increased circulation of unverified claims online. CENTCOM reiterated that misinformation regarding military movements can escalate unnecessary confusion and urged reliance on verified defense communications for accurate updates on U.S. military operations in the region.
