WASHINGTON, Jul 2: The commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM) has praised American troops stationed in Bahrain for intercepting and destroying multiple Iranian drones over the past several weeks.
Adm. Brad Cooper said soldiers and sailors assigned to a Joint Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) unit successfully shot down 14 Iranian one-way attack drones, highlighting their performance in protecting regional security.
In a statement posted on X, Cooper said he was “proud to recognize” the personnel involved, adding that their “exceptional performance” reflected “incredible professionalism, skill, and dedication” that “saved lives.”
CENTCOM did not provide further details on the specific incidents or locations of the drone interceptions but said the counter-drone operations were carried out as part of ongoing defensive missions in the region.
