TAMPA, Jun 3: The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has rejected Iran’s claim that damage to the passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport was caused by a U.S. missile interceptor, describing the assertion as false and maintaining that the airport was struck by Iranian drones.
In a statement, CENTCOM said Iran's narrative regarding the incident was inaccurate and asserted that the damage resulted from a deliberate attack on civilian infrastructure. The statement comes after Iranian officials claimed the destruction at the airport terminal was caused by a malfunctioning U.S. interceptor rather than a direct strike.
Earlier, Iran has claimed that damage to Kuwait International Airport's passenger terminal was caused by a U.S. interceptor missile malfunction rather than a direct Iranian strike. However, Kuwaiti authorities have publicly stated that the airport was targeted by hostile drones and missiles, while multiple international media outlets, citing Kuwaiti officials, reported that Iranian drones and/or missiles struck the airport and caused significant damage and casualties.
