LOS ANGELES, Sept 4: The Los Angeles home of actor Tracee Ellis Ross was burglarized over the weekend, with thieves reportedly escaping with more than $100,000 worth of jewelry and handbags, according to multiple media outlets.
The 52-year-old Black-ish and Girlfriends star was not present when the break-in occurred in the early morning hours of August 31.
According to the Los Angeles Times, police stated that three suspects entered the residence by breaking through a glass door. The burglary was captured on the home’s security cameras.
Ross’s staff members alerted authorities about the incident, which remains under active investigation.
Ross, the daughter of Motown icon Diana Ross and music executive Robert Ellis Silberstein, now joins the growing list of celebrities whose homes have been targeted in recent months.
The break-in highlights a troubling trend among high-profile figures in Los Angeles. Most recently, Brad Pitt’s Los Feliz property was broken into while he was overseas promoting his movie F1. In that case, three suspects scaled a fence and smashed a living room window before stealing an undisclosed amount of property. Four individuals were later arrested.
Earlier this year, thieves also targeted the homes of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, as well as Los Angeles Football Club star Olivier Giroud, who reported about $500,000 worth of jewelry stolen from his residence.
Actor, writer, and director Tyler Perry experienced an attempted burglary in December when security guards intercepted four masked intruders at his Beverly Ridge Estates property. The suspects fled, leaving behind a backpack filled with crowbars, gloves, and a cellphone. Security staff reportedly used thermal imaging to spot the trespassers before stopping them.
Just months prior, burglars attempted to break into the Pacific Palisades home of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. A window was smashed, but their alarm system went off, preventing the intruders from gaining entry.
Ross’s burglary highlights the ongoing challenges faced by celebrities in protecting their properties, as organized burglary crews continue to target high-value homes across Los Angeles.
