CBSE Admits OnMark Website Vulnerabilities,

NEW DELHI, Jun 1: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has acknowledged vulnerabilities in its OnMark portal used by a service provider, saying the issues have been contained and steps are underway to eliminate any further security weaknesses.

In an official statement, CBSE said it is “closely monitoring” reports of vulnerabilities being flagged in the public domain. It added that a team of cybersecurity experts from various government departments and IITs has been deployed to strengthen the system and move it to a more secure setup. The board also said it has been engaging with ethical hackers who identified potential flaws and urged others to report concerns directly to its security team.

The development follows claims by ethical hacker Nisarga Adhikary, who highlighted a possible security loophole allowing unauthorized access to scanned answer sheets and question papers. He alleged that files could be accessed and downloaded across institutions due to insecure storage practices.

Meanwhile, reports of glitches in CBSE’s revaluation portal have emerged, with the system not yet fully operational despite earlier announcements that applications for rechecking marks would open. Students are required to pay fees for review and correction of marks once the portal becomes active.

Separately, a parliamentary committee is scheduled to record statements on alleged irregularities in NEET and CBSE examinations. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has also raised concerns over the on-screen marking system, alleging procedural lapses and claiming that answer sheets were scanned using mobile phones instead of professional equipment. CBSE has not officially responded to these specific allegations.
