KUWAIT CITY, Jun 5: Kuwait's Environment Public Authority (EPA) has initiated legal action against an individual accused of dumping waste into the marine environment near Umm Al Muradim Island after a video of the incident circulated widely on social media.
The EPA said it immediately launched an investigation upon receiving the footage and coordinated with the General Directorate of Coast Guard at the Ministry of Interior to identify the individual involved. Authorities were able to determine the violator's identity and summon him for questioning, after which the necessary legal procedures were taken and an environmental violation report was issued in accordance with Kuwait's environmental protection laws and regulations.
The authority stressed that protecting the marine environment and preserving the country's natural resources remain top priorities. It reiterated its commitment to monitoring and addressing all practices that harm the marine and terrestrial environment, warning that violators will face legal consequences.
The EPA also called on the public to play an active role in safeguarding Kuwait's environmental resources by adhering to environmental regulations and promoting responsible behavior to ensure the protection of natural habitats for future generations.
