Cathay Pacific extends Dubai, Riyadh flight suspension through November

HONG KONG, Sep 4: Hong Kong-based carrier Cathay Pacific Airways has extended the suspension of passenger flights to Dubai and Riyadh until at least December, cancelling services to both destinations through November 30 amid continued uncertainty in the Middle East.

The airline said the decision was made in response to the “latest developments in the Middle East.” Passengers affected by the cancellations will be offered options to rebook, reroute or receive refunds for their tickets.

Cathay Pacific said it will continue to assess when passenger and freighter services to Dubai and Riyadh can resume, while closely monitoring the regional situation.

The airline initially suspended flights to the two cities on February 28. It later announced plans to gradually resume passenger and freighter operations from September 1, but postponed the restart in July until late October. The carrier has now pushed the resumption back again.

Cathay also withdrew its earlier plan to restart freighter services to Riyadh from August 1, without announcing a new date.

Meanwhile, Emirates and Qatar Airways continue to operate flights from Hong Kong to Dubai and Doha respectively, following the gradual restoration of their Middle East services.
