KUWAIT CITY, July 25: Lawyer AbdulMohsen Al-Qattan has filed several complaints against tweeters before the electronic crime department of the Ministry of Interior, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The attorney has filed the complaints on behalf of one of the wellknown real estate companies accusing them of what he called ‘fraud on hashtag’ on Twitter. Al-Qattan, said his client was surprised when he saw the old tweet (posted in 2019) republishing.
The suspect did not only re-publish it, the tweet includes words offending the company and its trade name. Al-Qattan clarified in his complaint that whoever misuses the means of telephone communication must be punished and put behind bars for a period not exceeding one year and a fine not exceeding two thousand Kuwaiti dinars and not less than two hundred dinars or one of these two penalties.
He went on to say, whoever deliberately insults and defames others by using a device, means of communication, or other to take a picture or more or a video clip of someone without his/her knowledge or consent, or exploits the capabilities of these devices without permission, or alters an image that violates the public morals of people must be punished with imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years and a fine not exceeding five thousand dinars and not less than five hundred dinars, or one of these two penalties
