LONDON, Jul 5: A cargo vessel came under attack on Sunday in the Red Sea off Yemen's coast, prompting a distress alert and an investigation by British maritime authorities.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) center said it received a report of an incident about 30 nautical miles southwest of Al Hudaydah.
According to UKMTO, the cargo ship reported that it was "under attack by unknown armed assailants" after triggering a distress alert.
The agency said authorities are investigating the incident and urged vessels operating in the area to exercise extreme caution and immediately report any suspicious activity.
No information was immediately available on the identity of the attackers, the condition of the vessel, or whether there were any casualties.
