KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8: The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has postponed the deadline for submitting bids for a tender to supply, install, operate, and maintain smart water meters for the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy to September 22, instead of September 9.
The ministry floated the tender for the supply of 300,000 smart water meters to replace old mechanical meters in all residential sectors. It formed a committee to study the required specifications for the meters to be supplied, with the contract to be awarded to the best bidder that meets the technical specifications and requirements. The meters must be able to withstand high temperatures and incorporate advanced electronic technologies that meet the defined criteria.
The ministry aims to implement its comprehensive digital transformation plan for providing services, particularly electricity and water, which are the two main services it provides to customers. These meters are expected to help the ministry remotely monitor meter readings, detect leaks and tampering, and promote water conservation. Meanwhile, the ministry recently obtained CAPT approval to float a tender for the construction, completion, and maintenance of a green building in Farwaniya Governorate. This project is one of six tenders the ministry is seeking to float for the construction of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient green buildings to serve customers in the six governorates
