KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: Director of the Medical Emergency Department Dr. Ahmad Al-Shatti has warned about the number of cases of road accidents and carbon monoxide suffocation during the winter camping season. He revealed the distribution of 86 ambulance centers in all areas of the country, and the provision of about 200 ambulances and five medical clinics in remote areas to deal with the winter season accidents. In a televised statement, Dr. Al- Shatti said the department is fully ready and prepared to deal with potential incidents in the winter season, affirming the arrival of a new batch of 80 ambulances during the coming period. He expressed appreciation for the harnessing of all technical and administrative capabilities and cadres to cover emergency events during this period.

Dr. Al-Shatti also confirmed the provision of about 3,000 emergency medical technicians, administrators and auxiliary medical services to deal with the daily reports and incidents it receives. He revealed that between 300 and 350 reports are received per day during the winter season, indicating that deaths in the winter season are caused either by road accidents or suffocation as a result of inhaling carbon monoxide gas from half-burned coal. Dr. Al-Shatti stressed the need to be careful while driving, maintain the permitted speed limits on the roads, pay attention when lighting charcoal inside the camps, and make sure not to leave it burning inside the tent while sleeping because it causes great risks to a person’s life such as cause fainting, coma, and then death.
