Cabinet touts PACA ACI membership

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: The Kuwaiti Cabinet on Tuesday commended the Public Authority for Civil Aviation’s joining of the Airports Council International (ACI) as a step towards promoting Kuwait’s presence in the network of world airports. This came during the Cabinet’s weekly meeting held at the new Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 (T2) under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The Cabinet said that the step would bolster ongoing efforts aimed at advancing the Kuwait International Airport system in line with international best practices and standards, saying that ACI comprises 811 members running more than 2,200 airports in over 160 countries around the world. The ACI intends to promote the safety, security, efficiency, and sustainability of airports, and to advance service quality and the passenger experience, it said, adding that ACI membership enables the Public Authority for Civil Aviation to leverage expertise, data, training programs, and international standards, participate in specialized committees and events, and exchange best practices with major global airports.

This comes as His Highness the Prime Minister, accompanied by the ministers, conducted an inspection tour of the new Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 (T2) project earlier in the day. At the onset of the meeting, the Cabinet was apprised of a handwritten letter received by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan General Abdelfattah Al-Burhan, concerning the fraternal bilateral relations between the two countries. The message was delivered to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah by Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mohi El-Din Salem Ahmad. The Cabinet was then briefed on His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah’s meeting with Lieutenant General Mohammad Asim Malik, National Security Adviser and Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and his accompanying delegation, on the occasion of his visit to Kuwait.

The ministers then reviewed the outcomes of the phone call received by His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, from his French counterpart, Sebastien Lecornu. During the call, His Highness the Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al- Sabah to French President Emmanuel Macron and Lecornu. During the phone conversation, His Highness the Prime Minister pointed to the official invitation from His Highness the Amir to President Macron to visit Kuwait this year, which coincides with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries. Both sides also discussed close bilateral relations between the two countries and means of strengthening cooperation to serve the interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples. Furthermore, the ministers were informed of the meeting between His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Lieutenant General Mohammad Asim Malik, National Security Adviser and Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and his accompanying delegation, on the occasion of his visit to Kuwait.
