KUWAIT CITY, Dec 14, (KUNA): The Cabinet has approved a draft law on the fight against corruption, and has sent it to His Highness the Amir ahead of referral to the National Assembly. The bill was approved during a customary weekly Cabinet meeting held on Monday, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Electricity and Water Sheikh Mohammad Al- Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said in a press statement. Earlier in the day, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim said that the government would present soon an anti-corruption draft law to the assembly. The Cabinet has invited citizens and expatriates to participate in a grand festival slated on Friday (Dec 18th) for opening the Jaber Al- Ahmad International Stadium.
This came during a customary Cabinet meeting held on Monday at the Amiri Airport under chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al- Hamad Al-Sabah. The Cabinet highly commended the great and sincere efforts exerted mainly by the organizing committee and the Ministry of Interior for the inauguration of this giant sports edifice, Sheikh Mohammad said in a press statement following the meeting.
The festival will be opened under the aegis of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, he added. The Cabinet has highly appreciated the sincere efforts by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and fellow leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) during the recent 36th GCC summit. Meeting at the Amiri Airport on Monday, under chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Cabinet voiced satisfaction with the positive and fruitful outcome of the Riyadh summit.

Today’s meeting also reviewed the summit’s resolutions as comprised in its final communique, topped with welcoming Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s view for consolidating the joint GCC action.
The GCC Supreme Council voiced support to the UAE to host the universal exhibition, Expo 2020, and Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup. The leaders endorsed the recommendations and reports submitted by the GCC Ministerial Council, besides the achievements of the GCC. The summit also approved resolutions taken by the GCC Supreme Defense Council on domains of joint military action. It renewed full rejection of all forms of extremism and terrorism and stressed the member states’ commitment to renounce extremist thinking, and to remain united to fight terrorism. The final communique reiterated that the GCC countries would carry on with their participation in the international coalition to fight terrorism, backing regional and international efforts in this regard. It strongly denounced the terrorist blasts that targeted mosques in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and those that hit the Kingdom of Bahrain, killing innocent security personnel and civilians.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet on Monday congratulated Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and the Saudi people on the successful municipal elections. The Cabinet also hailed during its weekly meeting the win of Saudi women in the municipal polls as a landmark achievement that represents a fresh launching point that could contribute to development in the kingdom, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Electricity and Water Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said in a press statement following the meeting. It further appreciated the role played by Saudi women in serving their nation in all fields, voicing confidence that they could shoulder responsibility in a proper and efficient manner, he said. Furthermore, the ministers congratulated the leaders and people of Bahrain and Qatar on their countries’ national days, wishing them more progress and welfare.
