Cabinet discusses death of 2 cadets, injury of three others

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah chairs the weekly Cabinet meeting

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 3, (KUNA): The Cabinet held its weekly meeting at Seif Palace Monday under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. After the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Interior Anas Al-Saleh announced the official delegation accompanying His Highness the Amir in a visit to Washington, US, which includes top state officials. The Cabinet expressed its confidence that the visit will contribute to enhancing strategic relations and cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields.

Injury
The Cabinet discussed the death of two students and the injury of three other student officers at Ali Al-Sabah Military Academy recently and the measures taken to investigate the circumstances and causes of this painful incident to take appropriate actions in order to remedy the shortcomings and avoid them. In this regard, the Cabinet expressed condolences to the victim’s families and stressed the importance of the completion of the investigation, in order to reach all the facts and the reasons behind the incident. Al-Saleh reviewed the results of the Secretary-General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Dr Abdul-Latif Al-Zayani visit to the country recently, which discussed the strategic vision of the General Secretary of the GCC and all that would create conditions for prosperity and growth of GCC countries. On the occasion of the new academic year 2018-19, the Cabinet listened to an explanation presented by the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Hamed Al-Azmi on the details of the preparations made by the ministry.

Draft
The Cabinet also reviewed recommendations by the Legal Affairs Committee concerning a draft decree approving a MoU on the establishment of a mechanism for bilateral cooperation between the government of Kuwait and the government of China. The Cabinet revised a draft decree approving a MoU on civil service and administrative development between the government of Kuwait and Bahrain. On the other hand, the Cabinet praised the achievements of the Kuwaiti athletes participating in the 18th Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia, which concluded on Sunday, where Kuwait won six medals (3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze). The Cabinet also discussed the political current developments in the Arab and international levels. The Cabinet concluded its meeting with a denunciation of the terrorist bombing in the Somali capital Mogadishu, which resulted in a number of dead and wounded, and condemned the knife attack at the central train station in Amsterdam, which resulted in the number of wounded, stressing the position of Kuwait’s consistent and basic anti-violence and terrorism.
