Players warm up during the training session.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 5: Burgan is on the verge of securing a place in the Gulf Clubs Cup Winners' Championship, scheduled to be held in Bahrain from Nov 21 to 30, following the withdrawal of UAE club Sharjah.

Informed sources said the Gulf Handball Federation is expected to invite Burgan to replace Sharjah, citing the Kuwaiti club's recent triumph in the Asian Men's Club League Handball Championship.

Sharjah is the second team to withdraw from the competition, following Bahrain's Al-Shabab, which was replaced by Al-Najma.

The sources added that Burgan is awaiting an official invitation from the Gulf federation, after which the club will submit the request to Kuwait's Public Authority for Sport for final approval.

Burgan's participation is expected to be settled within the next few hours, once the official invitation arrives and the necessary administrative procedures are completed.

If approved, Burgan will join the Kuwait Club as the second Kuwaiti representative in the tournament, earning the opportunity through their recent Asian club championship success.
