Kuwait City, 7 Oct: Continuing its role in supporting Kuwait’s star athletes Burgan Bank celebrated Kuwaiti track and field Olympian, Yaqoub Al-Youha’s impressive win at the 19th Asian Games taking place in Hangzhou. The young runner walked away with the gold medal in the 110m hurdles race after clocking in a time of 13.41 seconds, earning Kuwait’s second gold in the games and his first. The Bank's sponsorship of Al-Youha, along with several other Olympians and world-acclaimed athletes, comes as part of its comprehensive social responsibility program. This program aims to contribute to the growth of the sports culture in Kuwait and the overall development of the community.

In light of this triumph, Mrs. Kholoud Rida AlFeeli, Deputy General Manager of Marketing and Communication at the Bank said: “On behalf of Burgan Bank, I would like to congratulate Yaqoub on his latest admirable victory. We are delighted and immensely proud to be able to play a part in his journey to Olympic glory, as we remain passionate supporters of our national athletes.”

She went on to remark that Kuwait’s rising athletic stars continue to set a great example for the youth, inspiring them to embrace sports – whether professionally or as an integral component of everyday life. “Fostering the sports culture in Kuwait has become a goal that is very near and dear to our hearts at Burgan, as we consider sports to be an absolutely vital element of the growth, prosperity and wellbeing.”

Along Al-Youha, Burgan Bank currently sponsors the Olympic journeys of four other young remarkable athletes, including Amal Al Roumi, Mudhawi Al-Shammari, Ebrahim Al-Dhafeeri, and Joud Tawfiq. Striving to compete in the upcoming Olympics, the five Olympian hopefuls have close to 30 gold, silver, and bronze medals between them in different championships, achieving momentous feats at numerous regional and international competitions.

It serves to note that Burgan Bank continuously supports aspiring Kuwaiti talents who bear endless promise and potential, and who hold the key to national development. On the sports front, the Bank continues to collaborate with the most influential sporting agencies and bodies – such as the Kuwait Olympic Committee, the Kuwait Women’s Football League, and the Kuwait Padel Club – to ensure the comprehensive advancement of sports across the country.
