Britney Spears

LOS ANGELES, Dec 20: Over three years following the accidental fire that consumed Britney Spears' home gym, the pop icon took to Instagram to reveal the lingering aftermath of the incident. Sharing a shocking photo on Monday night (Dec. 18), Spears showcased the extensive damage, depicting a charred basement filled with burnt workout equipment, including dumbbells, kettlebells, treadmills, spin bikes, and more. The entire space, along with the equipment and floor, is visibly torched and covered in ash.

In April 2020, Spears initially disclosed the gym's destruction, attributing it to an accidental fire caused by candles. "Reflecting remembering when I burnt the gym down in 2020," she captioned the recent Instagram post. Recounting the incident earlier, she stated, "It was an accident... but yes... I burnt it down. I walked past the door to the gym and flames [fire emojis] BOOM !!!!!! By the Grace of God, the alarm went off after that, and yippy hoorah nobody got hurt. Unfortunately, now I have only two pieces of equipment left lol, and a one-sided mirror gym!!!!! But it could be much worse, so I’m grateful. Pssss I like working out better outside anyways."

This isn't the first time Spears has faced troubles with candles. In 2002, People reported an incident during her vacation in New York City where she almost set the apartment she was staying in on fire by accidentally leaving a candle lit while shopping. The article highlighted another candle-related incident in the past, with Spears' mother disclosing that Britney had sparked a fire in the family's Louisiana home with a misplaced candle.
