KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13: The Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Kuwait, Qudsi Rashid, praised the longstanding and deeply rooted relationship between the two friendly nations.
Speaking at a reception hosted by the British Embassy to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Charles III, Ambassador Rashid highlighted the presence of senior officials, heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of international organizations, and prominent public figures at the event.
He noted that British–Kuwaiti relations span more than 125 years, covering political, commercial, economic, humanitarian, and cultural fields. He expressed gratitude for the warm and generous welcome extended to him and his family upon their arrival in Kuwait, describing it as a reflection of the strong friendship shared by both countries.
Ambassador Rashid pointed out that trade relations date back over 250 years, when British merchant ships first arrived in the Gulf, laying the foundation for one of the region’s oldest economic partnerships with Europe. Today, he said, numerous British companies continue to invest and operate in Kuwait, further reinforcing this historic relationship.
He added that the thousands of Kuwaiti students who study in the United Kingdom each year, along with the many families who view cities such as London, Manchester, and Edinburgh as their second home, reflect the depth of the people-to-people connection. He also acknowledged the valuable contributions of the British community living in Kuwait across various sectors.
Ambassador Rashid emphasized that the spirit of partnership and mutual commitment has long sustained British–Kuwaiti ties and will continue to guide both nations toward a future rich with shared opportunities and collaborative challenges.
