LONDON, July 6 : British Airways (BA) will be cutting 10,300 more of its short-haul flights scheduled until the end of October, the airline said on Wednesday, as the peak summer holiday season is hampered by staff shortages across airports in Europe. “The whole aviation industry continues to face into significant challenges and we’re completely focused on building resilience into our operation to give customers the certainty they deserve,” said a BA statement.
The cancellations will affect London Heathrow, Gatwick and City airports, added the statement, saying BA has already started reimbursing customers whose flights were cancelled. Still reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic, global airlines’ plans of a swift post-pandemic recovery have hit a roadblock amid labor shortages at airports. (KUNA)
