Breastfeeding has numerous benefits, says Dr Al-Azmi

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 2: Dr. Marzouq Al-Azmi, Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Consultant at Kuwait Hospital, has recommended that mothers breastfeed their babies for a minimum of the first 6 months, emphasizing its numerous benefits, reports Al-Anba daily.
International studies have validated that breastfeeding enhances children’s immunity while reducing the likelihood of allergies and eczema symptoms.
In a statement to the daiily, he highlighted that if breastfeeding extends beyond 6 months, it is advisable to introduce iron-rich foods or provide iron supplements to prevent iron deficiency in the child.
Underlining the significance of adhering to the vaccination schedule, Dr. Al-Azmi emphasized that vaccinations are pivotal in preventing diseases, especially during the winter season.
Addressing winter-related illnesses, Dr. Al-Azmi pointed out that respiratory diseases, particularly affecting infants, are prevalent during this period. He advised parents to keep children away from sick individuals, ensuring they stay warm throughout the winter months.
