Brazil-Kuwait ties a model of partnership, friendship: Brazilian envoy
Assistant Foreign Minister for the Americas, Minister Plenipotentiary Nawaf Al-Ahmad, and Brazilian Ambassador Rodrigo d’Araujo Gabsch cut the ceremonial cake at the Brazilian Embassy’s 203rd Independence Day celebration.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 17: Brazilian Ambassador to Kuwait Rodrigo d’Araujo Gabsch said Sunday that relations between Brazil and Kuwait have grown into a model of productive partnership and solid friendship, particularly in the fields of energy, food security, and trade.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the 203rd anniversary of Brazil’s Independence Day, Gabsch said bilateral ties have witnessed notable progress this year, driven by exchanges of several public- and private-sector delegations that held fruitful discussions with their Kuwaiti counterparts. The event was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs Ambassador Nawaf Al-Ahmad and heads of diplomatic missions.

Gabsch said Brazil remains a “reliable partner” for Kuwait in ensuring food and energy security, adding that ongoing negotiations on new bilateral agreements aim to modernize the legal framework governing relations and reinforce more than five decades of friendship.

He noted that diplomatic relations were established in 1968 and highlighted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of resident embassies in Brasilia and Kuwait City. He recalled key milestones, including the accreditation of Kuwait’s first resident ambassador to Brazil, Jalal Al-Rifai, on July 31, 1975, followed by the arrival of Brazil’s first resident ambassador to Kuwait, Paulo Peccheti, who presented his credentials on November 9, 1975.

The ambassador described the 50-year journey as a moment of appreciation for the diplomats and leaders who laid the foundations of bilateral ties, which he said now stand as an example of deep-rooted cooperation and friendship.

Gabsch expressed Brazil’s aspiration to further strengthen the partnership and expand cooperation with Kuwait in the years ahead.
