Boursa Kuwait ends lower as premier market weighs

KUWAIT CITY, June 1: Boursa Kuwait ended Monday’s trading session on a negative note, with the general index declining by 54.55 points, or 0.62 percent, to close at 8,760.57 points. Trading activity saw 349.8 million shares exchanged through 30,056 cash transactions, with a total value of KD 91.7 million (approximately USD 280.6 million). The premier market index led the losses, falling 72.81 points, or 0.78 percent, to settle at 9,231.48 points. A total of 136.9 million shares were traded across 17,010 transactions, valued at KD 60.3 million (around USD 184.5 million). In contrast, the main market index recorded modest gains, rising by 18 points, or 0.21 percent, to reach 8,684.04 points. Trading volume stood at 212.8 million shares through 13,046 transactions, with a total value of KD 31.4 million (approximately USD 96 million). The Main 50 Index also posted a stronger performance, advancing 64.55 points, or 0.67 percent, to close at 9,697.24 points. The index saw 186.6 million shares traded in 10,516 cash transactions, valued at KD 27.4 million (around USD 83.8 million). (KUNA)
