DAMASCUS, Aug 6: Several people were killed and injured after a bomb exploded aboard a passenger bus in the town of Jaramana, near the Syrian capital Damascus, on Thursday, according to Syrian state media.

State-run Al-Ikhbariya TV reported that an explosive device detonated inside the bus but did not specify the number of fatalities or injuries. The broadcaster also did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the blast.

The Syrian Interior Ministry and security authorities had not issued an official statement at the time of publication, and no group had claimed responsibility for the attack. An investigation into the incident is expected.
