Bobi broke the Guinness World Record for oldest dog in February.

PORTUGAL, Oct 23, (Agencies): Bobi, the Guinness World Record holder for the oldest dog ever, passed away at 31 years and 165 days in his home in Portugal. Dr. Karen Becker, a veterinarian who had the privilege of meeting Bobi several times, shared the news on social media, highlighting his remarkable 11,478 days on Earth.

Bobi's journey to fame began when he was recognized as the world's oldest living dog in February, surpassing a century-old record previously held by Australia's Bluey. His extraordinary longevity was officially validated by the Portuguese government's pet database.

The successor to Bobi's title as the world's oldest living dog is currently unknown, marking the end of an extraordinary era in canine history.

Bobi's life was simple, spent with the Costa family in Conqueiros, a village near Portugal's west coast. Born in an outbuilding alongside three siblings, he narrowly escaped being put down due to an abundance of animals. Bobi became part of the family and enjoyed the same meals as his human companions.

Despite a health scare in 2018, Bobi lived a relatively trouble-free life, with his longevity attributed to the calm and peaceful environment he enjoyed. In his later years, he faced challenges with walking and declining eyesight.

Bobi wasn't the only long-lived dog in the Costa family; his mother reached 18 years, and another family dog lived to be 22. Bobi's remarkable journey underscores the enduring bond between humans and their beloved canine companions.
