NEW DELHI, Dec 13, (PTI): A Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) jawan was killed and another injured following a blast triggered by Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, the police said today.

The incident occurred around 11 am in Aamdai Ghati iron ore mine area under Chhote Dongar police station limits when the security personnel were out on an area domination operation, a senior police official told PTI.

“Maoists after triggering an IED blast opened fire on the patrolling team that led to an encounter between the two sides,” police said.

Constable Kamlesh Sahu, belonging to the CAF's 9th battalion, was killed in the incident, while another constable, Vinay Kumar Sahu, sustained minor injuries, the report said.

Earlier in the year, ten security personnel and a driver were killed in an improvised explosive device blast allegedly carried out by Maoists in Dantewada district.
