KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19: In a blatant disregard of the law, a ministry representative accused of forging his fingerprint attendance for one year has been found to have remained in his post although he is still under investigation, reports Al- Seyassah daily quoting sources. Sources said the anomaly was uncovered when officers from the Criminal Investigation Department raided the employee’s office recently; during which his Iranian driver, who recorded fingerprint attendance on his behalf, was caught in the act.

Sources pointed out it is surprising that the employee continued working despite being under investigation on suspicion of involvement in corruption. Sources added the employee continued to exercise all his powers until the arrest; indicating he even issued decisions, administrative circulars and directives to other employees.

Sources wondered why the concerned minister did not suspend the employee until the completion of investigations. They argued that allowing the employee to continue exercising his powers while he is under investigation could have affected the statements of witnesses and changed the course of interrogations. Sources disclosed the employee even played a role in determining the beneficiaries of the excellent job performance bonus for the years 2021 and 2022; stating these beneficiaries received a bonus of KD1,500 each.

Sources added the employee also disbursed the incentive for those who were on the frontlines of the fight against Corona in his capacity as chairperson of the committee tasked to review applications for the incentive granted by the Council of Ministers.
