Bid to smuggle 2 kilos marijuana foiled

KUWAIT CITY, March 19: Customs officers at the Kuwait International Airport have foiled the attempt of an Asian man to smuggle 2.1 kilos of marijuana into the country, reports Al-Anba daily. According to customs sources the drug was found neatly packed and placed inside one of the bags. The contraband and the suspect have been referred to the General Department of Drugs Control.

Meanwhile, an Asian expatriate was arrested in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area in possession of 12 sachets of methamphetamine, locally known as “Shabu”, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, Farwaniya securitymen were patrolling Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area when they suspected an Asian expatriate and checked his details to discover he is in violation of the residency law. They checked him to find 12 sachets of methamphetamine. He was arrested and referred with the drug to the Drugs Control General Department for necessary legal action.

Two held with pills: Two Egyptian expatriates were arrested in Farwaniya area in possession of ten Tremadol pills and a cigarette stuffed with hashish, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, Farwaniya securitymen were patrolling the area when they stopped two pedestrians and checked their details to discover they are Egyptian expatriates. Sensing their nervousness, securitymen checked them to find narcotic pills and hashish-stuffed cigarette. They were arrested and referred with the drugs to the Drugs Control General Department for necessary legal action. Meanwhile, a Syrian expatriate who is in violation of residency law and is involved in a case of breach of trust was arrested in Ardiya Industrial Area, and referred to the concerned authorities.
