KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: Customs officers at the Salmi border post have arrested an unidentified Egyptian for attempting to smuggle out of the country subsidized foodstuff, reports Al-Rai daily.
During interrogation the man said he bought the foodstuff from an open makeshift market in Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh. He also said he would sell the foodstuff in Egypt for profit. The officers have seized from the man 100 cans of powder milk and six sacks – three each of sugar and rice.
The Egyptian has been referred to the security authorities to know the truth and to find out if the foodstuff was stolen before taking any action against him.
